Oh, and as an aside, I read some things about the Lancet retraction. I don't think the retraction necessarily means there are no links between autism and vaccination. Instead, it just signifies that there were problems with this particular researcher and his methods. Just because he was possibly unethical doesn't mean there is no link. Unfortunately, I think many people are interpreting it that way, which is too bad.

Thanks for this post. Can I ask for some advice? My son was diagnosed this past month with autism and the doctor said there is a one in 20 chance my other children could have autism as well. I am not worried about my daughter; she is 4 and shows no signs at all of having autism. It's my almost one-year-old I am worried about.

I know there are very few things I can do to prevent it, but vaccinations are something I am really concerned about. What can I do? He has already had some vaccinations, but hasn't had any since his 6-month checkup. (I didn't take him for his 9-month because it was in Dec and right in the middle of the scary flu epidemic). Is it better to put off the vaccinations? Is it only the MMR I should be worried about? I don't know what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
