Alex goes UP

Alex, in his worship of all things PIXAR, loves the movie Up. So, of course on the day that the movie came out we needed to get him a copy of the movie. He had been counting down til the release date for days, weeks, months even. Since the release date (November 10th) we have watched it too many times to count. I don't know how he can watch the same movie over and over and over and it never seems to get old for him.

The movie makes me cry. Perhaps it is the timing of the movie and when we saw it in the theatres. We saw this the day before my dad passed away and watching it opens up the floodgates. Still, despite the sadness this movie brings to me - there are some really hilarious and tender moments. I can see why my kids love it, especially Alex. When we were at Disney Hollywood Studios he got a chance to "meet and greet" with the characters from Up! including Carl Fredricksen, Dug, and Russell. Fun Stuff!

After seeing the movie in the theatres he drew his own version of the movie poster. I love his artwork!

And lately he has been working very very hard at the Small Factory on new movies using the characters from Up with his favorite Wall-E and Ice Age characters. He traces the characters and draws them with layers so that he can animate them in Flash. I love his attention to detail. In the picture of Russell he found there wasn't a bugle and he knew Russell had one so he added it in.

Watch and smile :)

Animation by the most amazing 8 year old I know. Nevermind that he has autism. He is amazing!!!

First movie - lots of characters, no sound yet.

Short movie with sound, Scrat from Ice Age visits the Up house.

If you haven't seen Up - grab the kleenex and take a seat.
