What Gluten Free item would you love to see on grocery store shelves?
Now, when I say "grocery store shelves" I was thinking "main stream" grocery stores and not necessarily health food or specialty "natural" grocers like Trader Joes, Whole Foods etc.
I am really thrilled to see more and more items being more readily available like Betty Crocker baking mixes, Chex cereals, etc.
A definite need was expressed, and I wholeheartedly agree with the need for better marking of items that are gluten free. I'd add better marking of items for food allergens (like milk, casein, nuts, soy, egg, etc)
I love these suggestions:
This is what you'd like to see gluten free:
- Pizza Dough (mix and pre-made frozen)
- Pie crust (ready made frozen)
- Blueberry Muffin Mix
- Apple Crisp Mix - I have made an apple crisp and gluten free peach crisp before
- Peanut Butter Crackers
- GoldFish Crackers
- Cheeze-its
- Doughnuts (We do like the Kinnikinnick Donuts quite a bit here)
- Bagels (There are several brands of these - Do you have a favorite?)
- Breadmixes for the Bread Machine
- Flavored Pasta (Pasta is actually the one thing we have plenty of. My son loves the rice and also quinoa pastas)
- Taquitos
- Tortillas
- Rice Crispy Cereal (My son doesn't like the gluten free versions of Rice Puffs)
- Rice Crispy Treats We like Glenny's: http://www.glennys.com/marshmallow-treats-c-26.html
Something not on this list???? What do YOU want to buy gluten free at the grocery store . Let me know in comments!
