Speaking to Gov. Corzine about Vaccine Mandates

Governer Corzine stopped by the Vaccination Gather in Middletown NJ down the street from the Democratic party fundraiser. Obama and Jon Bon Jovi were present at the fundraiser (and had dinner together) but neither showed up to talk.

Obama did drive by and wave.

Was that you, hellokittiemama, lobbying the governor? Meow! Your passion and poise astound me.

For me, the issue is a matter of deciding how best to protect our children's health. While studies definitively prove that vaccines protect children from devastating disease, science has yet to prove a definitive link to autism. If and when a link is found, that's when the real debate begins for me.

I hate that this issue divides our community and hope that my view on things doesn't taint our bloglove.

Blogger ate my comment back mid-comment. Ok, maybe it was me accidently shutting the pop up window.

That wasn't me talking to him. That was Louise Kuo Habakus.

As far as the vaccine link - oh you are absolutely entitled to your view and that's all good. I don't believe vaccines are the only thing causing autism - I believe it has to be some kind of 'cocktail' of genetics, enviroment, immune system, etc. I also believe some children have it from birth.

I know for Alex's case he didn't have any autism signs until after he had shots and that shots hurts him. I remember the visit that it happened actually and how before he went he was a happy little baby (though he did get a lot of ear infections) and after he received the shots he would just stand in the pack and play and bang his head over and over. He stopped babbling and he became inconsolable. I try to block that image out of my mind but it is one I live with.

Anyways, like the signs same. Moms know best. And I'm with you that they need to really figure it out. I don't buy the studies that say there isn't a link because those were all funded by the government and the big pharms who are all in bed with each other.

To hellokittiemama:
You captured the spirit of the event beautifully. Your story is the story of too many. Moms do know.

To mama mara:
Thank you for the compliment.

We all want to do the best by our children.

Please remember that, before something is conventionally
known, there is that awkward period when it is becoming known.

There are powerful reasons to want to believe what we are told. It's easier, for one. Who wants to swim against the current and challenge our doctors, our school nurse, our government?

Fifty years ago, the standard dose of radiation is, today, the median lethal dose.

One hundred years ago, bloodletting was standard medical practice.

Science is a moving target, I'm afraid.

It takes great personal courage to take an unpopular stand. I was in the presence of extraordinary people yesterday who came from near and far with their children on a moment's notice to stand together in truth. I had the opportunity to go to the DNC party but, a nice as my neighbors truly are, not for one moment did I wish I was at their party.

If you're within driving distance to NJ, come to one of my seminars. I was where you were not so many years ago. Go to www.njvaccinationchoice.org and click on calendar of events.

Best to you..
Louise
