Jersey Shore News for Friday September 5th
First of all - Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to hit the Jersey Shore area tomorrow with a really bad storm. The stores here were all packed with people stocking up for the bad winds and rain. The township police here claim they are prepared and ready. Living so close to the beach is usually a blessing - we are spoiled to have really gorgeous beaches within minutes (under 3 miles away!) and also a couple of dozen other beaches to choose from that are just a short drive 10-40 minutes away. Many local events are being canceled due to the impending storm including this weekend's Brick Challenger Soccer which my son was going to start. He'll start next week and it will be made up at the end - sounds fair to me! The biggie is that Surfer's Healing is supposed to take place on Sunday here - they say it will take place rain or shine but with the beaches and ocean expected to be as dangerous this weekend I'm not even telling Alex that it is this weekend so he isn't let down if it doesn't happen. The Beach Bash sponsored by Autism Family Services of NJ was expecting 2,000 attendees at Belmar's beach on Sunday. The annual Seaside Soiree fundraiser is this evening but this is the first year we are not attending due to other committments - read on...
Today a plane landed on the Garden state parkway in Tinton Falls, NJ around 1:30 pm. No one was hurt and traffic was just slowed down for a bit. The plane was towed away an hour later. I saw this as I was headed up to Middletown for a NJ Vaccination Choice/Obama gathering.
Obama was attending a democratic party fundraiser in Middletown, NJ so a party gathered with Louise Kuo Habakus to bring attention to Vaccination Choice just a few homes away from the fundraiser. Obama was then going to have dinner at Jon Bon Jovi's home (nearby). The kids and I were part of the "friendly gathering" of vaccine concerned individuals waving to Obama and holding up signs as he drove by. Corzine stopped in to talk with "us".
More info is located here
....I'll post more photos of this event soon!

Wow--that is an incredibly busy week. And it sounds like the weekend is busy too! I hope the storm is kind to your area.
Love the sign!
