I did it!
We did it!
Today was Belle's first day of Preschool. She was so excited this morning to get ready and go. Of course she had to bathe, do her nails (again) and then put her hair up in "bingbings" (pig tails). She helped me pack her snack bag and emergency clothes and gave me no trouble about putting on the name sticker and tag on her bag (the same ones she ordered me to throw in the trash 2 days ago).
We arrived at school and she saw the kids and parents and a bus gathered at the preschool entrance and she got a bit nervous.

But we crossed the bus lane and met up with her friend Nicholas (one of Wendy's boys) for a whole lot of pictures. The kids all lined up against the wall and waited to go inside. They were so very serious. Nicholas agreed to help Belle, what a ladies man. Belle adores him.
The child on the other side of her in line was bawling and I feared for a snowball effect but thankfully didn't go there. The teacher took the kids in and she stood there - not following the line. I urged her to go in and follow Nicholas - she went right in.
The 2 hours FLEW. I was able to go to Target with Wendy and then get myself a cup of coffee. Before I knew it - time to pick up! This will be the story of my life. The teacher brought the kids out 2 at a time and she was so happy. I was relieved she was wearing the same clothes she arrived in (no accidents!). I asked her how school was and she had so much to tell me.
- They used glue! I'm so mean, but we don't have glue at home.
- A little girl helped open her zip-loc bag of grapes
- A teacher turned on the sink for her, it is a little sink.
- One teacher has brown hair, another has blonde hair and another one has grey hair. She remembered their names with prompting.
- She sat at a table, it wasn't a desk. She saw desks at Alex's class and noted her class does not have them.
- She played with lots of friends but the only name she knew was Nicholas.
- She wants to go back tomorrow.. and she will!

My friend Wendy blogged this too since her son is in Belle's class:http://wendygriggs.blogspot.com/2008/09/isabelle-nicholas-and-gavin.html and http://wendygriggs.blogspot.com/2008/09/preschool-line-up.html

It's so bittersweet. She looked so damn cute though.
Sounds like success. It is so fun to shop Target without kids in tow.
Oh my goodness, she is soooo cute! Congratulations Belle on your first day of school :0) Now she get to be your big (little) girl - (snif) - they grow up way too fast! Congratualtions mom on a childfree cup of coffee :0)
I'm having girl-envy. Just looking at her, I want to become her doting Auntie Mara, who would buy her frilly socks and a hot-pink Big Wheel. And we would watch the new Little Mermaid video, which I'll never see at my house because my boys say it's icky girl-stuff.
Too cute.
The days just whizz by. Not to scare you of course, but I can't believe my eldest is 27!
Cheers
Glad it was a successful day! What adorable pictures :)
