My kids have been particularly cracking me up lately with the things that they do. This is probably a good thing because I've been feeling down and stressed about a lot. So, instead of being all down in the dumps I'm going to share some funny things that make me smile/laugh.
1. Baby Belle... now 2 years old, has turned into the girliest girl in the planet. She insists on carrying around a
Barbie purse (she calls it MY Bah-bie Purse) stuffed with 3 pair of sunglasses, 2 cell phones, 2 sets of keys w/ remotes and even fake make-up.
2. Alex has made 2 attempts to reach out and play with other children and engage them. Usually if he's around other kids he's just doing his own thing and not interested in playing WITH them. This is one of the more heartbreaking things about autism. It pains me to watch other kids play and see him friendless. I do believe this is turning a monumental corner ... or it could be. Last week he played with the little boy around the corner- he ran right up to him and wanted to play basketball with him. And then the other day the monster brat from next door was over in our yard playing and was on Alex's swing and Alex was trying to give him pushes to swing higher. High 5 to Alex!!!!
3. Baby girl has learned the difference between boy parts and girl parts but is a bit confused by it all, it seems. The other day she grabbed at her crotch area and announced "MY PENIS!"
4. We went to the OB diner the other day. Great name right? It stands for Ocean Bay. Anyways, they have those individual jukeboxes at each table if you sit in certain booths. Alex insisted on making some selections. He picked out a John Mayer song that is in my
iPod, a Kelly Clarkson song (because it said American Idol next to it in the listing...I'm sure), and then he selected Hollaback Girl.. not sure about that one!!!
5. Belle has inherited many Fisher Price Little People sets including the
Noah's Ark set. She has taken the Noah from that set and uses it with the
Little People Dollhouse. The funny part is that she calls him PAHMPA... to which I believe she is trying to say Grampa. None of the grandpas in our family have big white beards or look like Santa so I am not sure where she gets it but she is insistant that the little figure is grampa.
