A boy and his bird

This is Scarlett. She's a very pretty red and purple Parrot that belong to a friend of mine.

Scarlett likes to say "Hello" and talks a little bit. She makes some cool sounds that are sort of like a robot or a scanner - maybe a former owner had a CB or police radio, is what my friend thinks.

Yesterday Scarlett came along to a beach/picnic day since the temperature was a bit cooler - in the 80s. She hasn't been feeling so well so her owner wanted to keep her close.

Alex LOVED Scarlett. This was the first time he
was able to get real close to a bird that couldn't fly away (her wings are clipped). He liked to pet her, and learned quickly that he needed to pet the feathers on her back instead of approaching her head on - she nipped at him a little bit but he was OK. The best part was watching him try to engage the bird... A big step for him because he has trouble engaging appropriately with people. At the end of the day, he wanted to follow the bird home with its owner!!
She's not a therapy bird but yesterday you could have fooled me! Is there such a thing as a therapy bird, anyways???

Cute bird. I think I read about the epinions meetup last summer that a member brought their bird. Is this the one? We used to go down to the lake and Nick would name the ducks and know what types they all were.
